The Mode is dedicated to providing a place where quality cultural events, celebrations of life, and artistic pursuits thrive. The Mode supports creativity and merriment!
My Business
The Mode Theater was built in 1937 as a cinema theater, and provided audiences with several decades of first run movies. Falling victim to larger urban cinema-plexes, The Mode closed its doors in the 1980's. Remodeling occured in the late 1980's and 1990's when a young actress and her partner reopened the doors to one-act plays, concerts, art displays, and other artistic events. Circumstances forced the closing of the theater once again in 1999, and for four years, The Mode lay in wait. As it is today, The Mode reopened in June, 2003, to audiences and patrons anxious for its re-establishment. The Mode has grown over the years as technical capability has increased, and is now home to the Waterloo Film Fest every spring, which is held the week-end after the Wisconsin Film Fest in Madison. Renters of this beautiful hall enjoy the distinctive simplicity and fineness of the space.
Looking to the future............
An antique, collectable, artwork, craft and hand-sewn Patriot Sale is being planned for the week-end of Feb. 20th and 21st. Tables rent for $10 each.
Eric Cotting is planning a week-end special yoga event for sometime in March, 2010.
Also, a Funniest Home Video contest is in the "think" stage. Want to help?
And always, your idea is worth consideration. Let me know!
